No Sew Sock Snowmen

I spend a lot of time on Pinterest. I found these on there and just had to make them! I love snowmen and these little guys are just adorable! They were really easy to make and not expensive at all. I got my socks in the dollar store and I had everything else on hand. I was going to use Christmas socks originally but decided not to so I can leave them out for Winter instead of Christmas. I made a set for my mom and few for other family members too! too cute! Here is the link for the instructions!

Peppermint Sugar Hand Scrub

I found a peppermint Whoopie pie recipe on pinterest that I was dying to try. I decided to save it for next year. I had so much going on and time was running short. But, I now had about 4 boxes of candy canes sitting here and I wanted to do something with them. I went through my pantry and grabbed olive oil, sugar, peppermint extract and Viola!  Peppermint Sugar hand scrub!  It came out great. I jarred them up, wrapped them in tissue paper, made a cute label and gave them out to the teachers and specialists at the school! I kept a few for me too! It really does  make your hands feel super smooth and smells delicious too!

Peppermint Sugar Hand Scrub:

4 cups granulated sugar
36 crushed candy canes (aprox 4 boxes, I  put mine in the food processor)
2 cups extra virgin olive oil
2 tablespoons peppermint extract

Mix ingredients in a large bowl. Depending on the texture you want you can add a little more olive oil.
Spoon into jar with a lid, mason jars work best! Add a canning label and your done!

Holiday cookies!!

Better late than never I know!  I haven't had a chance to update in awhile, the holidays were crazy and I have spent the last few weeks trying to get myself organized!

I love Christmas cookies, it my favorite Holiday Treat!  I tried a new chocolate chip cookie recipe as well as a new Linzter tart recipe and they came out amazing! I don't  have good pictures of all my cookies but I do have a few I can sh

                                                  The Best Chocolate Chip Cookie

Thats what it was labeled on Pinterest and boy were they right! This cookie is amazing, its also known as the NY Times Cookie , cause it was featured there and became extremely popular!  I found the recipe  here at Tender Crumb, please don't skip any of the steps, it is truly worth it! I will never make another Chocolate Chip Cookie again!!

    Linzter Tarts and Sugar Cookies

Linzter Tarts are my favorite Holiday Cookies, they are a little tedious to make though. I need to invest in better tart cookie cutters. The ones I used work well enough but the top cookie was very delicate because it was so thin. needless to say I broke a lot of them.  But practice makes perfect right!! I actually used my regular sugar cookie recipe for these, because I had made a double batch. The recipes are very similar except there are ground almonds in the original one. My sugar cookie recipe is a little on the soft side so it worked out perfect! The cookie recipe I use can be found here at Bee in our Bonnet. I have been really practicing with the sugar cookies, and it's really paying off! My Christmas ones came out very neat and almost professional looking! I still have some ways to go but I am getting better!

 Melted Snowman Sugar Cookies

I made this with the leftover sugar cookie dough. I saw them on pinterest and just had to try them.  I just made and odd shape cookie and frosted them white. The heads are Marshmallows I put in the microwave for 20 seconds and then placed on the cookie. I added all the accents with Royal Icing. They were super cute and easy. I only made 3, on for each of the kids. I am definitely doing these again next year!

Hope you had a Sweet Holiday!!
